Mattresses away from home

Is there any way to guarantee a good night's sleep away from home?

Whether you are a regular business traveler or a holiday vacationer it is not unusual to find it difficult to get a good nights sleep when traveling for short periods.
Time heals

According to experts it is believed that it can take two or three days to adjust to a strange mattress. This may account for the issue of business travelers, usually away from home for night or two, suffer so much from poor sleep when away on business. Folks on holiday, usually stay longer at one location giving them the time they need to adjust to the mattress they are sleeping on and after only a few days enjoy restful sleep.

Can I do anything to make it easier?

Apart from a comfortable supportive mattress your routine when preparing to go to bed is important. When you are at home you most likely have a set bed time routine that you might not even be aware of. Probably, you go to bed at the same time every night. This is a signal to your body that it is time to sleep. Avoid alcohol, television and exercise just before going to sleep as they are stimulants and may prevent you from relaxing. If you follow these routines at home it is easy to follow them when you away and let you all asleep more quickly and rest more comfortably.

Should you be in the position of staying in a hotel room with an extremely uncomfortable bed, ask to have your room changed. Most hotels will be happy to honor your request. If you explain the reason for the request, the hotel might try and find you a room with a newer or firmer mattress that will help you get a good night's sleep.
